Saturday Connect is intrinsic to the true God’s purpose for the body of Christ. We have been left here behind enemy lines for a reason. We have a co-mission as the ambassadors of Christ who function as one in unified humbl;e submission to our Head, The Spirit who is God who lives in His body.
The Apostle Paul tells us, in 2nd Corinthians 5:20. ” Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
Jesus gives us command in Matthew 28:19-21, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We are to proclaim the good news if the love of God, proven in the willing sacrifice of His only begotten Son to ransom us from certain death and separation from His love for eternity. And we are to disciple one another, not to become taught ones of men and man’s religious kingdoms, but to be a student, a taught one of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Each of us, who have been reborn into the family of God, through Jesus Christ have received gifts for the very purpose of building up the body and the proclamation of the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
Paul lays out the truth of “one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling one Lord, one faith, one baptism one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all,” in Ephesians Chapter Four.
Paul further writes that “He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teacher for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
We are in a co-mission with our God, the Father, the Son, and God the Spirit. Saturday Connect exists to be used of the Spirit in receiving these promises, facilitating and working in the gifts that He has given us for this very purpose.
It takes the entire body.
With this in mind we are praying for, and we know already, that the Spirit will move upon other brothers and sisters from several different fellowships, be they independent or a part of a denomination, to allow the Spirit’s work in them as in us. We then can come alongside and build one another up in the oneness that Jesus promised, with the Godhead and with each other. And then we can be used as one to make disciples, meeting needs and doing this abundant life together.
I have recently gone through state recertification training, and passed the exam to be a Certified Peer Support Professional. The training allows me to work directly in peer support for people who are dealing with hurts, habits and hangups in many areas. I have a lot of experience working with people in substance use disorder and the co-occurrence of mental health issues. My CPSP credential provides me with a governmental recognition so what I can move in my calling and gifting from God to help many souls and the families. Part of my credential is about being a Community Health Worker. I, along with others, can help you by pointing you in directions to help you with many aspects of life. And as we grow we believe we can be used even more and more so.
Saturday Connect allows for the community to come together and for our neighbors to get to know each other, and share vital knowledge and resources while sharing a hot cut of coffee and a donut. Listening and praying and showing the love, grace and mercy extended to us, gets us out of the way so that the Spirit can change lives. We are testimonies to lives changed by the love of God.
We will be armed with resources and information, and availability to help navigate the paths of help. We will give what we have been given now, and look for God to show us, open up more doors, and lead us into what we need to know and the capabilities needed to make a difference.
Our first Saturday Connect is at 9am November 8th. We plan to have Saturday Connect every other Saturday moving forward. As we get more people in to share the load, we will expand to every Saturday. And, if the Lord provides the location where we can be more intentional about the mission, the vision is to expand into other days of the week.
Do you feel God tugging on your heart to be apart? Come have a cupajoe and a donut and let’s talk. Are you in a place, or know of someone who is there, needing help but not knowing where to turn? Maybe you or they just need an ear to listen with genuine care. We want to help in any way we can, in the Lord.
